Where men learn to become better fathers

The sounds of play fill the air as a dozen fathers hang out with their children.

Older kids are gathered around board games such as Chutes and Ladders and Sorry. A few play on a miniature air hockey table. Two young boys race trucks around the room, making zooming and crashing noises as the trucks collide with other dads' feet.

A few refrains keep rising above the din: "Dad, watch" and "Dad, did you see that?"

Men learn about fatherhood

The Pi on Project's annex building, located on the corner of Chestnut and Arbecam, bustles with busy fathers participating in the Responsible Fatherhood program on Wednesday evenings.

The importance of fathers

On Father's Day, it's hard to admit a serious truth. Children who have fathers involved in their lives have brighter futures than those who don't.

Among other things, he gave pointers on healthy involvement and fathering.

Father's Day provides the best time to celebrate your dad

As this special day approaches, now is the perfect time to celebrate responsible fatherhood and healthy father/child relationships in Colorado.

With 42 programs statewide, the Colorado Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Initiative is working with dads on how they can put their children first and become the best father they can be. These programs target fathers of children who are at risk of negative outcomes due to limited father involvement and limited economic support.

'Being there' is key to quality fathering

As we celebrate the 99th annual Father’s Day, it is evident that children learn from their fathers. Maybe not in that exact moment, but every eye and every ear of every child actively records lessons for life. Whether they are present or absent, fathers teach their children, and often by extension, their children’s children.

We live in a society where more men than ever before are actively involved in the lives of their children. But we also live in a time where a tremendous number of dads are disconnected from their kids. More than 40 percent of children living in father absent homes will not see their dad at all this year.

Course touches on several roles fathers have

Men often are thrown into parenthood without a manual on how to be an amazing dad, but local help is available to start fathers down the path to greatness.

Local dads can learn how to put their children first through a unique Fatherhood Program at the Fremont County Department of Human Services, and Fathers Day is a great time to consider enrolling.
