Our ultimate goal is to improve the well-being of children by building community access across Colorado to fatherhood programs and services. We seek to accomplish this through two primary objectives:

  1. Strengthen and increase the involvement and parenting skills of fathers of at risk children through community based direct services
  2. Build system capacity and community awareness through state level coordination and public outreach activities

The first objective will be met by resourcing faith and community based providers who provide fatherhood parent skills training and healthy marriage / couples relationships training as core services. Services should target fathers of children who are at risk of negative outcomes due to limited father involvement and limited economic support. These include children whose fathers are low-income, teenage parents, fathers of children with disabilities, single custodial parents, non-residential fathers and families receiving child protective services.

Services provided by funded programs of the Colorado Promoting Responsible Fatherhood Initiative are available to all eligible persons regardless of gender, race, age disability or religion.

The second objective is met through state level coordination and public outreach efforts that include a public information campaign focusing on the importance of fathers, a Web site with information about all services / programs and support to fathers and training academies on fatherhood.
